Castello is regarded as the most authentic Venetian neighborhood, so you’ll get a taste of a less-touristy Venice while enjoying a can’t-miss location. The apartment is set one building back from the Riva de Sette Martiri, a wide, sunny walkway that runs along the waterfront all the way to St. Mark’s Square—just a 10 minute walk from your door, and there’s no getting lost in the Venetian labyrinth along the way.
It’s a short, picturesque walk to Venice’s major sights, as well as some of the city’s lesser-known charms. The apartment is also ideal for visitors to the Biennale gardens or the film festival.
A few steps with bring you to Via Garibaldi, where you’ll find restaurants filled with locals, bars for your morning espresso or afternoon prosecco, and one of the best gelato shops in town. All the conveniences are here: a supermarket, a pharmacy, the local fish market, and even a floating produce boat.
When it’s time to catch a vaporetto, you’re just a minute away from either the Arsenale or Giardini stops, where vaporetti from all the major lines stop. You can head towards the beaches of the Lido or take an incomparable ride down the Grand Canal. Another vaporetto will bring you to Murano, the glassmakers’ island, where you can connect to Burano, a photographer’s dream of brightly-colored houses and well-known for its lacemaking. Other boats will take you to the train station for easy day trips to Padova, Verona, and Vicenza.
Getting here to and from the airport is a breeze, since the Alilaguna stops at Arsenale—though you won’t want to leave by the end of your stay.
